Erawan-shrine [2011]

The Erawan Shrine with the Hindu God Brahma.
Buddhism teaches the people to behave correctly.
But to Brahma they pray, when they need a divine support, in an exam, in
case of illness, for every need.
Why the shrine stands there, is really interesting. You can read a good article in Wikipedia → Erawan-shrine
The picture above on the left is from 1985. At that time the traffic at that intersection also roared, but you could still see the sky. Today there are two lines of the the sky-train and a pedestrian bridge that connects all areas.
This place is the Ratchaprasong intersection (Ratprasong). Anyone who has a good memory knows that during the riots in 2010 the redshirts had their → camp at Ratchaprasong intersection (Wikipedia).
Right picture: in the background the World Trade building with fire damage from the days of the uprising 2010 ...
... and if you have sharp eyes, you perhaps discover the Erawan Shrine.

Architecture that impresses me!
In 2008 we observed how the four huge high-rise buildings were built. - In February 2011 suddenly I saw: they were finished!
They were different from anything else that was there. I had to walk pretty long distances to take photos far from different directions. It was worth the effort.
If there would stay rectangular boxes then they were just troublemakers.
But the round shapes and the scattered arrangement are very attractive for me:
No curlicue! Form follows function!
Living creatures, such as watchmen or like giant vulture or eagle ...? And what do you think ... ?
Many of the buildings in Bangkok have heliports. That is not the new trend for urban traffic, but a facility for rescue operations, for example in case of fire or heart attack.
The new Suvarnabhumi Airport Line [2011]
The City Line serves all stations of the airport line. However, the Airport Rail Link runs on the same route non-stop to the airport and back to Makkasan Station. The check-in for many airlines is already taking place at Makkasan. However in the February 2011 it was only useful to come here by taxi, since the change with luggage from the adjacent subway station was tedious.
Baiyoke Tower 2 [2011]
The Baiyoke-Tower 2 (there is a smaller predecessor with the number 1) is 304 m high (without antenna), the tallest building in Thailand. The upper section is a hotel. In the 84. (86. ?) floor there is a rotating open deck. Construction of the tower was completed in 1997.
... those who live there [2011]
Representative?
No! But perhaps you feel the general atmosphere.
And where are the temples?
Perhaps some other time.
